Crimidesa Industrial Group is a family company founded in 1954, born in Cerezo del Rio Tirón with the exploitation of the largest known glauberite deposit, where we process and market anhydrous sodium sulphate.

Currently the Group has several mining operations, with the products marketed being sodium sulphate, sodium feldspar and wollastonite.

1954

Foundation of Crimidesa

Three mining engineers, including Ángel Plantalamor, began the exploitation of the glauberite deposit via underground mine, located in Cerezo del Rio Tirón (Burgos) to obtain sodium sulphate. Later, in 1965, José María Contreras would join.
1974

Creation of Excavaciones Castilla

Company specialized in earthmoving.
1975

Underground mine closure

The underground mine is closed and production becomes exclusively open-pit, allowing industrial exploitation of the deposit.
1980

Sodium sulphate patent

Registration of the patent for obtaining sodium sulphate from glauberite mineral.
1986

Environmental policy

Crimidesa's environmental policy begins thanks to the active restoration of its non-productive areas.
1996

ISO 9001

First mining company in Spain to obtain ISO 9001.

Creation of Enercrisa

Thermal and electrical energy cogeneration plant that makes the facilities in Cerezo del Rio Tirón self-sufficient.
1997

COMPAÑÍA MINERA ILUSTRACIÓN

Acquisition of the company in 2001 where we exploit the largest European wollastonite (calcium silicate) deposit located in Aldea del Obispo (Salamanca). Later, it would be named Mining Company Ilustracion in 2001.
1999

ISO 14001

First mining company in Spain to obtain ISO 14001 Environmental Certification.
2004

CRIMIDESA MAROC

Inauguration of the CRIMIDESA MAROC production plant, from which sodium feldspar is extracted.
2013

CO₂ capture project

The CO2 capture project begins with the planting of 5,000 holm oaks in the restored areas of Cerezo del Rio Tirón.
2017

Green Mowers

Opening of a new business line with the incorporation of Green Mowers company to the Group. Company specialized in electric mobility and professional care of green areas.
2018

ISO 45001 / ISO 50001

Obtaining ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 Certification.
2023

Solar park

Installation of a solar park at the sodium sulphate production center for self-consumption.
